I collaborated with Story Screen, an independent movie theater situated in Beacon, NY, to craft a fresh identity bumper that precedes the main feature.
Client - Story Screen | Role - Art Direction, Storyboards, Design, Animation
As it turns out, the theater had an existing bumper, featuring a soundtrack that was sourced from a rather unexpected place - the owner's personal collection of old DVDs. It was a meta touch that added to the charm of the theater. The owner only had one request for the new bumper - to retain the soundtrack from the old one. This request also meant that the total runtime for the new bumper had to be limited to just 19 seconds. Drawing inspiration from this unique piece of AV media history, I set out to create a new bumper that paid homage to the early days of filmmaking, right through to the iconic "pew pew" lasers of the late '80s.
